Pitt-Johnstown Financial Aid

Grants are free money and do not need to be repaid. These funds come from a variety of sources including the college, state and federal governments, and outside organizations. Although students are not required to repay these funds, certain eligibility criteria must be maintained, including making听satisfactory academic progress. Students must submit a听(FAFSA).

Grant programs include the following:

  • Federal Pell Grant
    • Funded by the Federal government, need-based according to听(FAFSA)听
    • Eligibility and awards are determined by the Student Aid Index (SAI), as well as enrollment status and college costs
    • Award amounts for 2025-2026听range from $740 to $7,395听per year
    • Students are notified of eligibility via the FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS)听with the amount listed on the Financial Aid offer
  • Pitt Pell Plus Grant
    • The Pitt Pell Plus Grant Program will match any Federal Pell Grant awarded up to the federal maximum Pell Grant amount of $7,395 for the 2025-2026听academic year. This University-wide program is available to eligible undergraduate students.
  • PA State Grant
    • Funded by the state and administered by PHEAA
    • PA residency is required for at least 12 months prior to completing the current year FAFSA
    • For 2025-2026, awards range from $200 to $5,260听per year
    • Award eligibility is determined by a student鈥檚 enrollment status, housing status, college costs, and academic progress
    • Enrollment in at least six credits is required for consideration
    • To be considered听for a grant, submit the FAFSA by May 1
    • Grant offered to undergraduate students without a four-year degree
    • Students are limited to eight semesters of PA State grant
    • Official notification of eligibility sent to students in mid-May
  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
    • Funded by the Federal government and administered by the University
    • Students must show financial need for the grant
    • Eligibility is determined from criteria developed by the University (It is not uncommon for awards and criteria to differ from school to school)
    • To be considered听for the grant, submit the FAFSA by April 1
