The campus is located on 729聽acres within the Laurel Highlands of southwest-central Pennsylvania and presents scenic beauty from various vantage points and through 15 miles of hiking and biking trails.
Pitt-Johnstown is referred to as the perfect background for a purposeful education, only 70 miles from Pittsburgh and a few hours from other major metropolitan centers.
Due in part to the idyllic setting and to very conscious campus efforts,聽Pitt-Johnstown is the first Pennsylvania college or聽university to earn the unique designation as a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP), an Audubon International program. The University has also received certification in Environmental Planning from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, an international program administered by Audubon International designed to help landowners preserve and enhance the environmental quality of their property.聽
In May, the University is part of the annual Global Big Day in association with聽Cornell Lab of Ornithology鈥檚 worldwide Day of conservation that promotes citizen science as people around the world record their sighting of birds.
