Service

The Gospel calls us to care for the most vulnerable among us - the poor, the sick, the elderly and the unborn. Members of the Pitt-Johnstown community are encouraged to give of themselves in the service of others through a number of community service opportunities, and to be a voice for peace and justice on campus and in the community through education, reflection and social action.

Pitt-Johnstown Service Initiatives include:聽

  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick:聽A regular commitment in which students administer Communion, visit and pray with the elderly and homebound residents of a nearby nursing home.
  • Annual Opportunities
    • Daffodil Days:聽Help raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society by purchasing some daffodils. The prices for these spring flowers can't be beat, especially for a great cause.
    • MLK Day of Service:聽Open to all students, we will help serve the needs of the local community by having a "day on, not a day off."
    • March for Life:聽Held each January in Washington, DC, to promote the pro-life message and combat the culture of death, members of the Pitt-Johnstown community will journey to join in the prayer for the unborn, those considering abortion and individuals on death row.

Spring Break Mission Trip:聽Offered through Protestant Campus Ministry, students will travel to a community within the United States to minister to people from various walks of life.
